Francisco Cerundolo holds a clear edge as the No. 19-ranked fifth seed against No. 49 Botic van de Zandschulp in the BMW Open round of 16 on Munich's outdoor clay courts, leading their ATP head-to-head 2-0 with straight-set wins in recent meetings on indoor hard. Cerundolo advanced via a straight-sets victory over Flavio Cobolli in the round of 32, building on his 8-2 clay record this year capped by a Buenos Aires ATP 250 title. Van de Zandschulp, riding momentum from a Bucharest clay semifinal and a 7-6(7), 6-3 upset of qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler yesterday, faces a stylistic challenge against the Argentine's baseline grinding. No injuries or withdrawals noted, with trader consensus reflecting Cerundolo's surface superiority and seeding advantages.
