National Weather Service forecasts for Houston on August 31 project a high near 94–96°F under mostly sunny skies with only a slight afternoon thunderstorm chance, aligning closely with the market’s top outcomes in the mid-90s. Persistent subtropical ridging and high dew points near 73–75°F have sustained elevated heat indices above 105°F through late August, while light southerly flow limits mixing and supports peak temperatures in the observed climatological range for the period. Model consensus shows minimal spread, though any earlier or stronger convection could cap readings in the low 90s; traders appear to weigh the official guidance heavily ahead of final NWS updates on August 30–31.
