Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores face multiple U.S. federal charges in the Southern District of New York, including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and weapons offenses tied to alleged long-running drug trafficking activities. Both entered not guilty pleas after their January 2026 capture during a U.S. military operation. A June 2027 trial date has been set, giving the defense time to pursue dismissal arguments based on head-of-state immunity and other procedural challenges. Traders assign a 70% probability to a "No" outcome on conviction for every count, reflecting the extended timeline before any verdict, the high evidentiary threshold for proving all elements across several distinct charges, historical patterns in complex conspiracy prosecutions, and the possibility of partial acquittals, plea resolutions, or legal setbacks before the case reaches a jury.
