Nicolás Maduro faces U.S. federal narco-terrorism, cocaine importation, and weapons charges following his January 2026 capture by U.S. forces in Caracas and transfer to pretrial detention at MDC Brooklyn. He and his wife entered not guilty pleas in early January, with the case proceeding under a superseding indictment that supersedes 2020 charges. Traders see tight odds across no prison time, short sentences, and lengthy terms because the timeline to trial or plea remains extended, outcomes hinge on evidentiary disputes, possible sentencing ranges for conspiracy counts, and limited precedent for a former head of state in similar prosecutions. Recent status hearings have addressed procedural issues like funding and evidence handling without resolving core uncertainties, while historical comparisons to cases like Manuel Noriega underscore variable paths from arraignment to final disposition.

This market will resolve according to the prison sentence, if any, imposed on Nicolas Maduro (Nicolas Maduro Moros) relating to this indictment by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET.
