The Quebec general election campaign, launched August 27 with polls set for October 5, has produced a tight contest in La Prairie following the departure of long-serving CAQ incumbent Christian Dubé. Trader pricing reflects a competitive multi-party field where CAQ nominee Pierre Guillot-Hurtubise and PQ candidate Frédéric Côté sit near the front at implied probabilities around 43 percent, ahead of Liberal Sonia Ziadé and QS nominee Francine van Winden near 24.5 percent. Provincial polling trends, the shift to new CAQ leadership under Christine Fréchette, and the riding’s evolving voter base south of Montreal keep the outcome uncertain, with limited historical precedent for such an open seat under the current electoral map. Late-campaign developments including leader debates, targeted voter outreach in suburban precincts, and any shifts in provincial momentum could widen separation among the contenders.
