Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicates a cooler air mass advecting into the Northeast behind a frontal passage, with northeasterly winds of 10–15 mph expected to limit daytime heating on September 22. This pattern supports afternoon highs centered in the low-to-mid 60s °F across central NYC, with scattered showers adding further suppression through cloud cover and evaporative cooling. Historical September climatology shows typical highs near 75 °F, so the current setup represents a notable negative anomaly driven by the steering flow. Market-implied odds favor 66–67 °F as the modal bin, reflecting trader weighting of potential model warm biases or slight timing shifts in the front, while lower bins capture downside risks from heavier precipitation. Updated model runs and official NWS forecasts through the next 48 hours remain the key catalysts for any probability shifts.
