New Jersey's 1st congressional district maintains a strong Democratic tilt, with registered Democrats outnumbering Republicans by more than two to one and the seat rated Safe or Solid Democratic by multiple forecasters. Incumbent Donald Norcross secured the Democratic nomination without significant primary opposition in June 2026, leveraging established fundraising advantages and name recognition built over five terms. Republican nominee Damon Galdo or Theodore Liddell faces structural barriers in a district that has consistently supported Democratic candidates by double-digit margins in recent cycles. Trader consensus reflects this baseline, though a major scandal, health event affecting the incumbent, or an unexpected national partisan shift could theoretically narrow the gap before November.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
