With multiple films hovering near even odds in this early 2027 Oscars Best Adapted Screenplay market, trader sentiment reflects a wide-open race driven by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which leads on strong advance buzz for its epic scale and source material. Project Hail Mary, The Black Ball, and The Invite follow closely, buoyed by source novel pedigrees and early industry chatter. Dune: Part Three and The Social Reckoning sit further back amid competition from other adaptations. Key upcoming catalysts include fall festival premieres, guild nominations, and critics’ awards that historically shape adapted screenplay momentum, though secret voting and late-year releases keep the field fluid.
