Recent surveys show Talarico holding narrow statewide leads over Ken Paxton, with stronger margins in suburban districts that overlap Denton County, reflecting shifts among independent and college-educated voters. Paxton's primary victory over incumbent John Cornyn consolidated Republican support but highlighted ongoing legal and ethical concerns that have weighed on his appeal in affluent suburbs. Talarico's record fundraising and emphasis on education and cost-of-living issues have boosted visibility, while the competitive nature of the general election—rated lean Republican or toss-up by forecasters—keeps local results sensitive to turnout and late campaign dynamics ahead of November 3.
