Bo French secured the Republican nomination by defeating incumbent Jim Wright in the May 2026 primary runoff, positioning him against Democratic nominee Jon Rosenthal and Libertarian Arthur DiBianca in the November general election. Recent polling shows French maintaining a slim edge over Rosenthal, with substantial undecided voters across parties reflecting limited name recognition for the Railroad Commission role. French’s campaign has centered on cultural and immigration themes alongside energy sector ties, while Rosenthal highlights his oil-field engineering experience and priorities like grid reliability and infrastructure. French’s September social media comments drew rebukes from some Republican figures, contributing to the narrow trader consensus and potential for shifts based on turnout or late campaign focus on regulatory policy.
