Molly Gray holds an 86% implied probability in the Vermont lieutenant governor race because she secured the Democratic nomination in the August 11 primary with roughly 61% of the vote against Ryan McLaren and Esther Charlestin, positioning her as the clear challenger to Republican incumbent John S. Rodgers. Gray previously held the office from 2021 to 2023 and brings name recognition plus endorsements from state legislative leaders and former governors. Rodgers won his party’s nomination unopposed after defeating the prior incumbent in 2024, but pre-primary polling showed Gray leading hypothetical general-election matchups by double digits. Vermont’s Democratic lean in statewide contests, combined with the absence of major new developments since the primaries, underpins trader consensus favoring Gray ahead of the November 3 general election.
