OpenAI’s explicit decision to delay its IPO until 2027, citing AI safety and alignment priorities amid regulatory scrutiny, has anchored trader consensus that Anthropic will list first. Anthropic filed its confidential S-1 on June 1, 2026, ahead of OpenAI, and is now targeting a November 2026 Nasdaq debut after shifting from an October window to showcase stronger third-quarter results. Its annualized revenue run rate has surged past $100 billion, supporting expectations of a roughly $2 trillion valuation. OpenAI’s higher cash burn, infrastructure commitments, and lack of investor meetings reinforce the timeline gap. While market volatility or extended SEC review could still push Anthropic later, current filings and executive statements make a reversal unlikely before late 2026.
