Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $66.40 per ounce following a sharp 4%+ selloff on August 28, triggered by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s hawkish Jackson Hole remarks that elevated September rate-hike odds above 50% and lifted two-year Treasury yields. The pullback interrupts an August advance exceeding 18%, fueled by U.S. fiscal-deficit concerns, expanded Treasury buybacks, a softer dollar, and persistent physical supply shortfalls against resilient industrial demand from solar, electronics, and EVs. Traders will monitor upcoming U.S. PMI releases, unemployment data, and any shifts in dollar strength or real yields for near-term direction, with the gold-silver ratio and COMEX positioning remaining key sentiment indicators.
