Gold prices currently hover near $4,060 per ounce amid consolidation after earlier 2026 highs, with trader focus on U.S. economic data releases this week that could shift Fed rate expectations. Key catalysts include Monday’s ISM manufacturing PMI, Tuesday’s JOLTS report, Wednesday’s services PMI, and Friday’s nonfarm payrolls, which markets are monitoring for signs of labor market strength that might support higher-for-longer policy and bolster real yields. Rising Treasury yields and a firmer dollar continue to weigh on gold as a non-yielding asset, while easing geopolitical tensions around Iran have reduced safe-haven demand. Central bank purchases provide underlying support, but near-term moves hinge on whether data reinforces or tempers September rate-hike probabilities priced into futures.
