Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus point to a frontal boundary increasing afternoon thunderstorm chances across Atlanta on September 22, which is expected to limit peak heating through cloud cover and evaporative cooling. This setup follows several days of mostly sunny conditions with highs near 91–93 °F, positioning the daily maximum in the upper 80s to low 90s range. Official guidance lists highs near 88–90 °F, aligning with the market’s heaviest weighting on 90–91 °F while still leaving room for variability if storms develop earlier or later than modeled. Historical September climatology shows similar transitional patterns can produce 2–4 °F shortfalls from clear-sky maxima when precipitation timing aligns with peak insolation.
