Official National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts for San Francisco on September 5 point to a high near 66–68°F, driven by a persistent marine layer and moderate onshore westerly flow off the Pacific that limits daytime warming. This setup follows recent unsettled weather and light rain earlier in the week, which reinforced cooler, more stable conditions typical of early September coastal climates. Historical averages near 70°F and occasional marine-layer clearing create upside potential for 70–73°F readings if winds shift or the inversion weakens, aligning with the market’s emphasis on the 70–71°F and 72–73°F bins. Traders are weighting these factors against the strong likelihood of continued stratus and sea-breeze cooling that caps most outcomes below 74°F.
