He faces 17-year-old American wild card Jack Kennedy (ATP 864), who staged a comeback upset over No. 7 seed Lukas Neumayer (193), taking the second set 6-4 and leading 4-0 in the third when the Austrian retired down a set. Kennedy, a counterpuncher with high tennis IQ raised on U.S. green clay, arrives hot off an M15 Boca Raton title two days prior. Crawford holds ranking and experience edges, but Kennedy's speed, flat striking, and surface familiarity create upset potential in this evenly matched second-round clash with no prior head-to-head.
