An approaching Pacific storm system from the Gulf of Alaska is the dominant driver behind trader consensus for Seattle's September 3 high temperature clustering in the mid-60s °F. Official National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble models indicate widespread cloud cover, periods of rain or showers, and southerly flow advecting cooler marine air, which suppresses daytime heating below the 73.6 °F climatological average. These conditions reduce solar insolation and promote evaporative cooling, with model spreads reflecting uncertainty in shower timing and exact cloud thickness that could shift the peak by a degree or two. Recent pattern shifts away from late-summer warmth have aligned market-implied odds closely with these cooler, unsettled outcomes.
