This market will resolve based on the highest wind speed, in miles per hour, reported on the summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire in September, 2026. The resolution source will be data published by the Mt. Washington Weather Observatory. F6 reports containing daily wind speed recordings can be found here: https://mountwashington.org/weather/mount-washington-weather-archives/monthly-f6/. The resolution source for this market measures wind speeds to whole mile per hour (eg, 67mph). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to the wind speed recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following month has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Mount Washington’s summit, at 6,288 feet in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, experiences extreme winds due to its exposure, the V-shaped topography of the Presidential Range that funnels westerly flow, and frequent passage of low-pressure systems steered by the jet stream. Historical data from the Mount Washington Observatory show a September record gust of 174 mph in 1979 linked to a tropical cyclone remnant, with typical monthly peak gusts near 94 mph and average speeds around 28 mph. As fall begins, increasing baroclinic activity and nor’easter potential raise the chance of stronger gusts, though late-summer tropical influences can still contribute. Traders monitor real-time pitot anemometer and heated sensor readings from the observatory for resolution, with upcoming daily F6 summaries and any NHC-tracked systems serving as key catalysts through the month.
