Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Austin on September 7 project a high near 98°F under mostly sunny skies with light southeast winds and dew points in the low 70s, supporting heat indices above 105°F. This places the market-implied odds near even for 96–99°F bins while leaving room for 100–101°F outcomes if daytime mixing or reduced cloud cover allows greater surface heating. Model consensus shows minimal precipitation risk, consistent with the seasonal pattern of above-average late-summer temperatures driven by persistent Gulf moisture and weak steering flow. Minor forecast adjustments in afternoon insolation or boundary-layer depth could shift the peak by 2–3°F, explaining the tight clustering of trader probabilities across the upper-90s to low-100s range.
