The contest for Langley Township mayor pits incumbent Eric Woodward and his Progress For Langley slate against challenger Jay Lundgren and the Langley Strong slate of four sitting councillors, with the October 17, 2026, vote marking the first organized two-slate race in the municipality since 1999. Council divisions have sharpened around fiscal management, with Lundgren’s team highlighting rapid debt growth and calling for greater accountability, while Woodward’s group points to reserves and development charges as signs of responsible planning. Ongoing B.C. Supreme Court proceedings stemming from a prior defamation action, including a July petition seeking to bar Woodward and two councillors from running, add procedural uncertainty that could influence voter assessments of governance stability. Slate recruitment, sign bylaw disputes, and platform contrasts on growth and infrastructure continue to define the campaign, leaving room for late developments in candidate announcements or legal rulings to shift momentum before election day.
