Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to a humid, unsettled air mass with showers and thunderstorms likely on August 27, keeping overnight lows elevated near 70–71°F in New York City. Persistent cloud cover and elevated dew points limit radiational cooling, while the urban heat island effect further supports minimum temperatures in this range. Forecasts from sources such as WeatherBug and statistical outlooks consistently project lows around 71°F, consistent with late-August climatology when southerly flow dominates. These conditions explain why the 70–71°F bin leads market-implied odds at 37.5%, ahead of 72–73°F at 27%, with lower probabilities assigned to cooler outcomes that would require clearer skies and drier air not currently indicated.
