The US indictment of former Sinaloa governor Rubén Rocha Moya and several officials on drug trafficking charges tied to the Sinaloa Cartel has disrupted Morena’s internal dynamics ahead of the 2027 election, prompting an interim leadership transition and opening the field to multiple aspirants. Early surveys show Morena holding roughly 38% support but with no dominant contender, as names such as Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, and Eduardo Ortiz Hernández cluster in the mid-30s while others trail further. This fragmentation, combined with the one-year timeline before primaries and the absence of finalized party slates, sustains tight trader probabilities across the listed options. Upcoming nomination processes, additional polling releases, or shifts in federal-Morena alignment could begin to consolidate support and widen gaps.
