On April 17, Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz fully open to traffic, responding to US pressure, though Trump warned the blockade persists and the April 22 ceasefire deadline looms without a deal. Trump claimed Iran pledged to surrender enriched uranium stockpiles and forgo future Strait closures, but Tehran disputes full alignment, with talks possibly resuming in Pakistan this weekend. Key Iranian asks include unfreezing assets, oil sanction relief, and limited uranium enrichment—none confirmed agreed by month-end, per official reports. Upcoming diplomatic sessions and verification of nuclear commitments could shift outcomes before the market resolves April 29.
