Ken Sim holds the leading position in the Vancouver mayoral race due to his incumbency and organized ABC Vancouver slate ahead of the October 17 election, though polls show his support around 30 percent amid underwater approval ratings and a large pool of undecided voters. Pete Fry benefits from Green Party name recognition and stronger polling among renters and women, while Kareem Allam draws backing from his prior role in Sim’s office and the new Vancouver Liberals banner. Ongoing talks among progressive parties to consolidate behind a single challenger have stalled, raising the prospect of vote splitting that could favor Sim in a crowded field. Nomination filings close September 11, and recent surveys indicate no candidate exceeds 30 percent among decided voters.
