The tightly contested race for second place in the October 2026 French Socialist Party presidential primary reflects a fragmented field of declared candidates, including Olivier Faure, Raphaël Glucksmann, Philippe Brun, Jérôme Guedj, Emmanuel Maurel, and Ségolène Royal. Recent developments such as Faure’s late-August candidacy announcement, ongoing debates over primary rules that limit participation to party members, and scheduled September-October debates have sustained uncertainty among traders. No single contender has consolidated clear momentum behind first place, leaving multiple paths open for second depending on turnout among PS, Place Publique, and GRS adherents. Upcoming candidate forums and any shifts in endorsements or positioning on left-wing alliances could still alter the ordering before first-round voting begins.
