Former President Rumen Radev's Progressive Bulgaria alliance leads opinion polls at around 32% with a projected 90 seats ahead of the April 19 snap parliamentary election—Bulgaria's eighth in five years—driving trader consensus at 87.8% implied probability for him as next prime minister. Radev resigned the presidency in January 2026 to launch the center-left grouping amid deadlock following Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov's December 2025 resignation after mass anti-corruption protests. Acting President Iliana Iotova appointed central banker Andrey Gyurov as caretaker prime minister, who has cracked down on vote-buying to ensure clean polls, reflected in his 4.9% odds. GERB leader Boyko Borissov trails at roughly half PB's support despite recent rallies, per 3.6% pricing, as coalition negotiations post-vote could tip the balance despite Radev's frontrunner status.
