Incumbent Republican Dale Strong faces Democrat Andrew Sneed in Alabama’s 5th congressional district general election on November 3, 2026. The district’s strong Republican tilt, reflected in its R+15 or greater partisan voting index and consistent past results including Strong’s unopposed 2024 reelection, anchors trader consensus around the GOP nominee. Strong advanced through the Republican primary with minimal opposition, while Sneed emerged from a contested Democratic primary and runoff. Forecasters rate the race Safe Republican, underscoring limited Democratic viability in this northern Alabama seat centered on Huntsville. Late developments such as a major scandal, candidate health event, or extraordinary national political shift could still alter the outcome before Election Day.
