**Current forecasts for Wellington on September 8, 2026, center on a daytime maximum near 12–13°C under partly cloudy skies, aligning with the market’s heavy weighting toward 13°C (55%) and supporting bids on 14°C (24%) and 12°C (11%).** Early September marks the transition into Southern Hemisphere spring, when Wellington’s maritime climate typically sees average daily highs of 13–14°C (55–57°F) as solar radiation increases but frequent southerly flows keep temperatures moderated. Recent model consensus from sources including WeatherBug and MetService highlights a ridge building after a period of strong southerlies and rain on September 6–7, which has suppressed temperatures; lighter southeast-to-variable winds on the 8th are expected to limit warming while allowing some afternoon sun. Historical analogs for early September show maxima rarely exceeding 15–16°C without strong northwesterlies, reinforcing why probabilities drop sharply above 14°C. Minor model spread in wind direction and cloud cover creates the modest upside to 14°C and downside to 12°C, with new official guidance or observational updates over the next 24–48 hours likely to be the key catalyst for any shift in trader positioning.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=nzwn
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
