Republican Victoria Spartz secured the IN-05 nomination in the May 5, 2026, primary and enters the November general as the clear frontrunner in a district with an R+8 partisan voting index. The seat’s suburban and exurban composition north of Indianapolis, including Hamilton County strongholds, has produced consistent Republican majorities in recent cycles, supporting the 81.5% market price on the GOP outcome. Democrat J.D. Ford, a state senator, won his May primary but confronts structural disadvantages in fundraising and voter registration. A July Democratic internal poll showed Spartz at 48% and Ford at 46%, yet no subsequent polling shifts or endorsements have narrowed the gap enough to alter trader consensus. The November 3 election timeline leaves limited remaining catalysts.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
