Incumbent Republican Bob Latta, unopposed in the May 5 primary after two challengers withdrew, anchors trader consensus at 89.5% for a GOP hold in Ohio's 5th Congressional District, rated Solid Republican with an R+12 Cook Partisan Voting Index. The district backed Donald Trump by 24 points in 2024 and Latta by 35 points last cycle. Recent filings confirmed a fragmented Democratic primary field—educator Brian Shaver, retired tradesman Scott Tabor, teacher Martin Heberling III, and business owner Daniel Burket—with negligible fundraising against Latta's $931,000 cash on hand as of March 31. No polls exist, but the May primary winner faces steep historical barriers in this safe seat, though a national midterm wave or scandal could shift dynamics.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
