South Korea’s 2026 annual inflation market shows tightly bunched probabilities across the 2.4–3.0% range because recent CPI prints have hovered near 2.8–3.1% while major forecasts converge on 2.7%. The August reading rose to 3.1% year-over-year on base effects and elevated petroleum prices, yet the Asian Development Bank today reaffirmed its 2.7% full-year projection even after lifting GDP growth to 3.2%, citing government price-stabilization measures that have partially offset energy and demand pressures. Bank of Korea rate hikes to 3.00% and fiscal interventions continue to anchor expectations, while semiconductor-driven export strength supports consumption without generating broad-based overheating. With core inflation accelerating and geopolitical risks to oil prices still present, traders price the outcome as most likely to settle in the upper-2% zone, with only modest scope for a decisive move above 3% or below 2.4% absent sharper commodity shifts or policy surprises.
