Current forecasts from MetService and other models indicate a southerly change on September 22 will bring occasional rain, stronger winds, and a high near 13°C in Wellington, consistent with September's climatological average of about 14°C. This setup, driven by a frontal passage and cooler maritime air, limits warming potential compared to recent milder days. Trader emphasis on 15°C as the leading outcome reflects model uncertainty around timing of clearing skies and peak readings, with implied probabilities weighting toward the upper end of expected ranges. Updated runs from official agencies over the next 48 hours will refine maximum temperature thresholds ahead of market resolution.
