Recent National Weather Service guidance and model consensus for Houston on September 17 indicate overnight lows in the upper 70s, driven by persistent southeasterly flow off the Gulf, high dew points near 75°F, and limited radiational cooling under partly cloudy skies with a 40-50% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. These conditions keep minimum temperatures clustered tightly around 78-81°F, as light winds and elevated moisture reduce the diurnal range compared to drier September climatology. Traders assign the highest implied probabilities to 80-81°F and 78-79°F because small shifts in cloud cover or storm timing could tip the overnight low by 1-2°F either way, while a stronger easterly breeze or clearer skies would favor the lower end of that range.
