Paul St-Pierre Plamondon leads trader assessments for Quebec’s next premier because the Parti Québécois holds a consistent polling edge near 29 percent ahead of the October 5 election, buoyed by strong francophone support that translates into favorable first-past-the-post seat projections despite popular-vote margins under five points. Christine Fréchette, the Coalition Avenir Québec leader and incumbent premier since April 2026, has narrowed gaps in recent surveys through emphasis on economic management and U.S. tariffs, yet her party trails after years of declining support. Charles Milliard’s Liberals sit further back, while smaller-party leaders remain distant. Late-campaign developments on trade, immigration, and sovereignty timelines continue to shape the race, with seat outcomes determining the premiership.
