Recent June 2026 CPI data at 3.2% year-over-year, the highest since late 2023, has anchored trader positioning toward the 2.7–2.9% annual average range with a 37.9% implied probability, reflecting persistent pressures from higher energy and import costs amid a weaker won. Official forecasts from the Bank of Korea and Ministry of Economy and Finance now center on 2.6–2.7% for the full year, up from earlier projections, while the central bank’s July rate hike to 2.75% signals tighter policy to combat above-target readings. The 3.0%+ outcome holds 25.0% odds amid uncertainty over oil prices and currency effects, whereas lower brackets remain discounted. July CPI data due shortly and any further policy signals will likely influence near-term repricing.
