Recent forecasts for Chengdu point to a highest temperature on September 21 most likely in the 27–29°C range, aligning with the closely bunched market-implied odds. Persistent Huaxi autumn rain patterns are driving widespread cloud cover and elevated humidity across the Sichuan Basin, limiting daytime solar heating and capping highs well below late-summer norms. Light winds and orographic effects further moderate conditions, while historical September averages near 25–27°C provide context for the narrow spread between 27°C, 28°C, and 29°C outcomes. Updated numerical weather prediction runs from the China Meteorological Administration and global models will clarify any shifts from evolving moisture or brief clearing before resolution.
