**Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model guidance indicate moderating temperatures across the Los Angeles basin on August 29 as the intense heat wave peaks and ends on August 28.** Onshore southwest flow and increasing marine influence are expected to limit daytime heating despite sunny skies, with official outlooks calling for highs in the upper 80s to low 90s downtown/inland and low-to-mid 80s near the coast (LAX area). This aligns with the market’s heaviest weighting on 84-85°F (49.5% implied probability) and 82-83°F (27.5%), reflecting trader consensus around the most likely maximum reading at key reporting stations. The sharp drop in probabilities above 86°F captures the reduced risk of another extreme day, while lower bins account for possible stronger marine-layer effects or slight forecast revisions. Key resolution factors include the exact maximum at the designated Los Angeles station(s), with minimal precipitation risk and light-to-moderate winds supporting stable conditions. Updated NWS briefings and any last-minute model shifts before or on August 29 remain the primary near-term catalysts for market movement.
