Persistent southwest monsoon (habagat) activity, reinforced by scattered to moderate rainfall and extensive cloud cover, is the primary driver keeping Manila's September 9 maximum temperatures closely contested between 28°C and 29°C in trader sentiment. Official forecasts from PAGASA and numerical models indicate daytime highs near 28–30°C amid frequent thunderstorms that reduce solar insolation and promote evaporative cooling, aligning with the market's tight clustering around these values and lower odds for 30°C or above. Historical September averages near 30–31°C provide context, yet current moisture-laden southwesterly flow and high humidity favor the lower end of the distribution. Resolution hinges on the precise timing and intensity of afternoon convection, with latest model runs showing limited warming potential before evening.
