Forecast models from sources including the China Meteorological Administration indicate a high temperature of 28–29°C in Shanghai on September 9, 2026, under mostly cloudy to overcast skies with northerly winds at light to moderate speeds. This aligns with the market’s strong consensus on those two outcomes. Recent days have featured highs near 30°C amid transitional late-summer conditions; the expected slight cooling stems from increased cloud cover reducing solar heating and a northerly flow advecting marginally cooler air. Historical September averages for the region fall in the 27–30°C range, with minimal day-to-day variability absent major frontal passages or tropical systems. Traders appear to weigh the tight clustering of official and ensemble guidance heavily, with limited upside risk from unexpected clearing or downside from heavier rain.
