James Talarico holds a commanding lead in trader consensus for winning Fort Bend County in the 2026 Texas U.S. Senate race due to the county’s demographic profile and recent voting trends. The diverse suburban Houston area has shifted toward Democratic candidates in statewide contests, supported by strong performance among Hispanic voters, independents, and younger demographics where Talarico shows particular strength in public polling. Paxton’s primary victory over incumbent John Cornyn consolidated some Republican support but left lingering divisions that limit his appeal in competitive suburbs. With the November general election two months away, late developments such as shifts in turnout, major campaign events, or new polling on county-level preferences could still alter the outcome, though current data points to limited pathways for a Republican county win.
