Angie Nixon secured the Democratic nomination for Florida’s 2026 U.S. Senate special election with a decisive primary victory driven by strong turnout in urban counties, including Broward, where she outperformed her opponent by 15 points. As the Democratic nominee facing Republican appointee Ashley Moody, Nixon benefits from Broward’s consistent Democratic lean in statewide races and her emphasis on affordability issues that align with local voter priorities. Recent campaign stops in the county, including rallies focused on mobilizing supporters for door-knocking, have reinforced this positioning ahead of the November 3 general election. While Moody holds broader statewide advantages, Broward’s demographics and voting patterns create significant structural barriers for Republicans in this specific contest. Late developments such as shifts in turnout or unforeseen events could narrow margins but face steep hurdles in altering the county outcome.
