Molly Gray secured the Democratic nomination for Vermont lieutenant governor in the August 11, 2026 primary with roughly 61% of the vote, defeating Ryan McLaren and Esther Charlestin. As a former holder of the office (2021–2023) with established name recognition, she faces Republican incumbent John Rodgers, who ran unopposed in his primary. Vermont’s Democratic-leaning electorate and historical patterns in separate lieutenant governor races have positioned Gray as the clear frontrunner in trader assessments. Pre-primary polling showed her ahead in general election matchups, and her campaign emphasis on housing, healthcare costs, and state resistance to federal policy has reinforced this edge. Rodgers maintains support among Republican voters but faces structural challenges in the state’s broader political environment ahead of the November 3 general election.
