Nominations closed August 21 with a field of seven certified candidates, including challengers Janice Frampton, Lisa Robinson, Shaun Rickard, Doug Cornell, Zargham Rasool, and Andrea Wood. An August email urging candidates to withdraw in favor of a person of colour drew public backlash and highlighted diversity dynamics without shifting the field. The crowded ballot and limited recent polling data contribute to a fragmented challenger vote, while Ashe's incumbency and policy focus on economic development and growth sustain trader consensus on his edge.
