Silver (XAG/USD) recently broke above the $70 per ounce level for the first time in ten weeks, extending an August rally of nearly 20% fueled by a softer U.S. dollar, lower Treasury yields from expanded bond buybacks, and persistent safe-haven flows amid fiscal concerns. Structural support stems from ongoing multi-year supply deficits alongside robust industrial demand in solar photovoltaics, electric vehicles, electronics, and AI infrastructure. Recent July core PCE at 3.7% and market-implied odds of further Fed tightening by year-end have tempered rate-cut expectations, while Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks and the September FOMC meeting remain key near-term catalysts for real yields and dollar direction. Traders are watching resistance near $72 and support around $68 for the week ahead.
