Mimi Xu, the 18-year-old British prospect ranked outside the top 250, faces higher-ranked American Elizabeth Mandlik in the round of 32 at the WTA 125 Lexus Ilkley Open on grass. Xu returns after a straight-sets qualifying loss at the preceding Birmingham event and benefits from home-soil familiarity on the fast surface. Mandlik enters with a stronger 2026 record on varied surfaces but has shown inconsistency in recent ITF and qualifying matches. Both players lack extensive grass-court experience at this level, making serve efficiency, return aggression, and adaptation to low bounces key variables in their first meeting.
