Provisional results from Benin's April 12, 2026, presidential election show Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni securing over 94% of votes, positioning him as the overwhelming trader consensus for next president at 98.4% implied probability. The sole opposition candidate, Paul Hounkpè, conceded defeat on April 13, solidifying Wadagni's landslide amid limited challengers following parliamentary outcomes that restricted opposition participation. As outgoing President Patrice Talon's endorsed successor, Wadagni benefited from strong economic growth and incumbency advantages. Official certification by the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) is pending, with reversal unlikely given the margin, though fraud allegations or court challenges could theoretically shift odds in this single-round absolute majority system.
