Following Slovenia's March 2026 parliamentary elections, which produced a hung parliament with Freedom Movement (GS) at 29 seats and Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) at 28, trader consensus heavily favors Janez Janša as next Prime Minister at 74% implied probability, reflecting the right-wing bloc's momentum. The pivotal April 10 National Assembly speaker election saw Resni.ca leader Zoran Stevanović prevail with 48 votes from SDS, NSi-led alliance (9 seats), and Resni.ca (5 seats), blocking incumbent Robert Golob and signaling potential center-right coalition formation excluding GS. Jernej Vrtovec (NSi) at 11.2% and Anže Logar (Democrats, 6 seats) emerge as compromise options amid stalled cross-bloc talks, with President Nataša Pirc Musar set to nominate a candidate soon.
