Recent August IPCA data showed Brazil’s 12-month inflation cooling to 4.22%, below expectations and deeper inside the 1.5-4.5% target band, yet Focus survey medians for end-2026 inflation remain anchored at 5.00% after repeated upward revisions earlier in the year. This keeps the 4.50-4.99% and 5.00-5.49% buckets closely matched on Polymarket, reflecting trader uncertainty over whether temporary relief from food, electricity, and fuel prices will persist or be offset by resilient domestic demand, fiscal stimulus, and sticky services inflation. The central bank’s ongoing Selic easing cycle, with rates near 14%, and upcoming Copom decisions plus October data releases remain key swing factors that could shift the balance between the two leading outcomes.
