Incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney seeks an eleventh term in Connecticut’s 2nd district, a seat he has held since 2007 in a district rated D+4 on the Cook Partisan Voting Index. All major forecasters classify the race as Solid or Safe Democratic ahead of the November 3, 2026 general election, reflecting Courtney’s consistent double-digit margins in recent cycles, including a 16-point victory in 2024. Both parties’ August 2026 primaries were canceled, leaving Courtney to face Republican George Austin with no other contenders advancing. Courtney maintains a substantial fundraising edge and benefits from the district’s eastern Connecticut voter base. A Republican victory would require an unusually strong national midterm environment or unforeseen local disruption capable of overcoming the structural Democratic lean.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
